ABOUT US
A family owned and operated vineyard
nestled in the rolling hills of Cambridge, NY
Welcome to South Dominion Vineyard, a New York State Grown & Certified family-owned vineyard nestled in the picturesque hills of Cambridge, NY. Residing on land that has been continuously farmed for nearly 260 years, our vineyard continues an age-old tradition of farm to table living. Established in 2016, we planted 1300 Franco-American cold-hardy hybrid vines on our family farm. These unique hybrids, developed by a pioneering Minnesota scientist in the 1960s, blend wild American and European vinifera grapes, perfectly adapted to thrive in the unique climate of upstate New York.
Our collection showcases a range of exquisite white wines and reds, each presenting a delightful spectrum of body, sweetness, and finish. We invite you to explore the distinctive characteristics and intriguing taste profiles of our wines, crafted with passion and expertise. Our staff members are trained to help you choose your favorites, guiding you through the wide range of vintages and varieties with curated flights. Artisan cheese platters and a variety of sweet and savory bites are available for our guests to elevate their tasting experience.
Special features of the winery include the tasting room, built in 2019, that was constructed using post & beam building principles. Large windows, a vaulted ceiling, a beautiful fireplace, and comfortable seating provide a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
Upstairs in the Loft, you’ll find a hand-selected collection of used books—including titles for children—as well as vintage vinyl records, original works by local artists, and a unique selection of gift items. These include wool from our own Romney-Dorset sheep and hand-knit hats made with care. The space also features a cozy lounge where you can relax with a book and enjoy a glass of wine, craft beer, coffee, or tea, all while listening to music from our extensive vinyl library. For younger visitors, there's a child-sized table stocked with art supplies to spark creativity.
In addition to the cozy tasting room, our outdoor patio has been newly constructed and designed to provide guests comfortable seating at tables placed in intimate clusters with views of the vineyard. Guests are invited to stroll through the vines, meet the sheep, and explore our restored 1790 barn and 1766 log cabin—historic structures that speak to the many challenges early settlers faced in this region. Discover a range of curated experiences designed to make your time at South Dominion truly memorable. Whether you’re visiting as a couple, with family, or planning a special gathering, our log cabin stay, picnic, and private event packages offer something beyond the ordinary.
The tasting room is open seasonally from early May through late November. Hours are:
